On October 1, 2015, there was breaking news in the Health Care Community with regards to Fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is NOW recognized as a "real" diagnosis with its own ICD-10 Code. An ICD Code is the "International Classifications of Diseases- (10th edition)," which health care professionals, hospitals, etc use to indicate the patients diagnosis of medical conditions, disease, and/or disorder.
As a Fibromyalgia sufferer, this news was a victory to be celebrated and for the 'Fibro' Community as a whole. It always felt like Fibromyalgia was a Buffet Diagnosis (whatever is at the buffet is what you get). It had this taboo that physicians never took seriously, except a small few. Now, with this new ICD-10 Code of medical relevance, Fibromyalgia and it's sufferers will finally be given a correct diagnosis instead of having to attend the buffet line and see what you can fit on your plate.
